Plane and train

Dublin Airport

For the majority of international arrivals, the most convenient travel option will be flying to Dublin then taking a train to Westport. Westport is approximately 3 hours from Dublin by train, with several direct daily services operated by Irish Rail.

Trains depart from Dublin Heuston station, which can be reached from the airport using the Dublin Express 782 bus (~4 buses per hour, journey time ~40 minutes). Alternatively, taxis can be hailed at taxi ranks outside the airport terminal or ordered easily using the FreeNow mobile app.

Knock Airport (Ireland West Airport)

Another option to consider is Knock Airport, also known as Ireland West Airport, located approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Westport.

Various transportation options are available from Knock Airport to Westport. Bus Éireann operates bus services (bus 440) connecting the airport to Westport. Additionally, taxi services can be found at the airport, or they can be pre-booked for convenience using this link. The journey from Knock Airport to Westport typically takes around 1 hour.

Alternative options

Dublin port can also be reached by ferry from the UK and France, e.g. see Irish Ferries. Westport is connected to Dublin via numerous bus services every day, e.g. see Bus Eireann.

Depending on demand, we may organise a coach service to carry participants from Dublin airport to the conference.
